the act or habit of  putting off or delaying a task or errand, especially something requiring immediate attention:  (e.g.) She was smart, but her constant procrastination led her to be late with almost every assignment.

Sigh… no matter how you say it, or define it, or spell it….Today I’m doing it.

I pinky swear this is true, the very last thing that I thought before I drifted off to sleep last night was “tomorrow I’m going to CLEAN THE REFRIGERATOR”. What is wrong with me? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some kind of clean freak, its just that I have to make room in the ‘fridge somewhere for Christmas groceries. I’ve been ticking boxes off on my chore list, but this one always finds it way to the very bottom. But I was determined that today would be the day to tackle it. I even laid out the necessary cleaning supplies on the kitchen counter, so I would see them first thing.

So naturally about 6 AM my eyes popped wide open, because I remembered I have this absolutely fabulous pattern for mini-trees by Carolyn Friedlander. The pattern is called “The Grove” and its really adorably modern and just “Me-to-a-T”. There are two different tree patterns included, but the itty bitty mini tree quilt below just sings to me.

Check it out by going to . This is a picture of the smaller tree offered in the pattern. It blows me away with all the cute details. Sadly I’m not quite brave enough to use colour boldly in backgrounds yet…but it MIGHT be a New Years Resolution to go there.

Anyway, long story short, I got up, made my coffee and with absolutely no second thoughts, put away the cleaning stuff — the refrigerator can wait till tomorrow (or Monday, but Tuesday at the very absolutely latest) after all — and off I went to spend a perfect morning in my sewing studio. Here are first four blocks in my next mini-masterpiece.

Did you do something creative today?

  4. Nancy Kelly says:

Go for it Velda. A friend told me she doesn’t do guilt ;it’s a wasted emotion. Enjoy…..those cute trees

  5. gwen says:

and the sad truth is- you will never get the same feeling of accomplishment from the fridge as you will get from the trees- so forget the fridge
